1. Silver Beach County Park

Such a beautiful and well-kept beach! Probably one of the most popular beaches located in St Joseph Michigan. There is usually a lifeguard on duty which is helpful when it gets kinda crowded. There are also two playgrounds located at the beach; one for older kids and one for smaller kids. There is also a concession stand. 


2. Silver Beach Carousel

In 1910, Louis Wallace and Logan Drake brought a Coney Island-style carousel to their Silver Beach Amusement Park. This carousel featured 44 hand-carved, lifelike horses. Now today the Silver Beach Carousel has a large variety of animals and welcomes kids of all ages to take a ride. They even have an assortment of decorative hats that you can wear during your ride to add to the fun!

But did you know there is a scavenger hunt for kids to keep them busy while you’re checking out the local shops.  You can pick it up from the St Joseph Welcome Center. 6. Hidden Pointe

Fun for all ages. Hidden Pointe in Benton Harbor offers fun activities for all ages. Visitors enjoy the putt-putt golf course, go-karts, batting cages for baseball fans, and even an area packed with fun arcade games. Be sure to enjoy some Sherman’s Ice Cream before you leave!


7. Whirlpool Compass Fountain

The Whirlpool Compass Fountain is definitely a big win for kids during the hot summer days. There are eight large water cannons and 28 smaller, water jets. When the whole fountain is on it is pumping over 700 gallons of water a minute. It is pretty spectacular to see for all!


8. Sunset at Lookout Park

10. Sarett Nature Center

This is a great nature center to go to if you are looking for a variety of trails to go hiking. Enjoy a nice afternoon exploring one of the many trails, There is also an observation area for bird watching, a butterfly area, and a nice boardwalk on the pond.


11. Tiscornia Park Beach

A little less crowded than Silver Beach, Tiscornia Park Beach is a great alternative. It is even a favorite for some! You have to pay for parking but is well worth it. With a small sand dune just before you got to the beach. Very well kept and clean. There is also direct access to the lighthouse and pier so you can go for a walk after you spend a day at the beach.

1. City Museum

This place is so cool! Often referenced as the ultimate jungle gym mixed with junkyard (in a good way). When visiting, you will likely need knee pads when crawling through all the different tunnels and caves. It may also be a good idea to wear something lightweight – it can get a little hot in there.

The City Museum is such a unique and awesome place to visit. Be sure to get the extra ticket so you can access the rooftop. There is a Ferris wheel and school bus that overhangs off the side of the building.


2. Magic House

This is such a great place for toddlers and elementary age children. There are so many different things to do and lots of hands on activities. From the popular ElectricStatic Generator that will make your hair stand straight up to the Jack and the Beanstalk climber.

The Magic House is a clean and well-kept attraction that is packed full of educational activities for the kiddos. Also, friendly staff that makes your visit even more enjoyable!


3. The Science Center

With fun and interactive exhibits, this place makes for a popular thing to do in St Louis with kids. The best part is admission is FREE! Some of the most popular things to explore at the Science Center is the Dinosaur exhibit, NASA exhibit, a flight simulator and the Planetarium. The Omnimax Theatre is really cool too!


4. St Louis Zoo

The St Louis Zoo might be best known for the FREE admission but this zoo has so much to offer. With over 90-acres inside of the Gateways City Forest Park. It is easy to spend the day here. From tourist to residents living in St Louis, MO this zoo is well-kept and a great place to bring the kids. Come see all of your family favorites! Giraffes, gorillas, polar bears, zebras, hippos, and much more! However, even though this is a FREE zoo, you may still likely pay for parking. Typically you have to pay per vehicle to enter Forest Park. Parking on the street and walking may be an option as well. 


5. Grants Farm

Another great place to visit with kids in St Louis is Grants Farm. When visiting you can take a tram ride on scenic tour through the property to see Elk, Bison and more free roaming on the property. There is a small area where you can see many more animals and even feed some of them. Many visitors enjoy checking out the Clydesdales, feeding the goats, and experiencing the Elephant education show. There is also an old cabin on the property that was built in 1855 that is really neat. Don’t forget the FREE Beer samples for adults in the Beer Garden.


6. Six Flags St Louis

If you have ever visited Six Flags when you were a kid – chances are things haven’t changed too much! To this day, it is still a great time for kids. 7. Raging Rivers Waterpark

Looking for something to do with the kids during a hot summer day? Visit the Raging Rivers Waterpark. From a shallow kiddy pool for little ones to water slides, a wave pool and even popular swirl pools. The Water Park is a little bit of a drive from downtown St Louis but it is a nice setting. It even overlooks the Mississippi River. The lazy river could be expanded on a little but overall this is a great place to take the kids during summer break.


8. TopGolf

Some may think this might be more of an attraction for adults but this place can be great for older children too! Especially if they are golf fans! A brand new facility with state of the art technology. It is easy to enjoy the amazing atmosphere, great food, and a little bit of golf too ? Some describe it as walking into a hip and exciting bowling alley with loud music playing. An afternoon at TopGolf can be your perfect activity! The staff here are wonderful as well. Reserving a bay ahead of time might be a good idea as well. 


9. St Louis Cardinals Baseball Game

Visit the amazing Busch Stadium. Either if you have seats right behind home plate or up in the nosebleeds – there are great seats everywhere and even great views of the St Louis Arch. If you are visiting St Louis for the weekend and the Cards are on the road – they even have to tours of the ballpark that are totally worth it. 


10. The Gateway Arch

It is quiet amazing the architectural design and history of the Gateway Arch in St Louis. But don’t just enjoy this landmark from a distance – take the ride to the top and see the view of the city from the inside. The ride to the top is half of the excitement. There is only a small number of pods that take you to the top. These cars are small and only sit maybe five people and have little windows so you can see the inside of the Arch when going up. But beware if you are someone who is claustrophobic this might not be for you. It can be a little unnerving taking the slow ride up.


11. Art Museum

Allocated in Forest Park packed with a large variety of interesting pieces of Art. The St Louis Art Museum is a sanctuary for any art history buff. 12. Lone Elk Park

What a great place to visit in St Louis! Bring the kids and take a drive through the park and see a herd of Bison or large Elk. There is even a bird sanctuary on the property. This park consists of more than 500 acres located in St. Louis County west of the town of Valley Park. Be sure to bring a camera, this park is perfect for taking pictures!

A popular tourist destination that draws big crowds to Millenium Park. If that may bother you, consider try visiting early in the morning during the week. Or even when it rains. Also, check out the interactive screen known as Crown Fountain that is a big hit with kids. There is also many beautiful sculptures, a pedestrian bridge, and the Pritzker Pavilion to visit as well.


2. Grant Park and Buckingham Fountain

A must visit if you enjoy a large, wide open park. Beautifully landscaped throughout. One of the largest green spaces you’ll see in such a large city. An beautiful addition to the city in 1927 and is one of the largest fountains in the World. There are other statutes in Grant Park, including a statue of our 16th president. Abraham Lincoln. Grant Park is also walking distance to the Loop, Soldier Field, and museum campus. One of the most popular events held here is Taste of Chicago.

One of the most popular things to do is taking a ride on the Ferris wheel – what a view! Or taking the kids to the Children’s Museum. From IMAX movies, to Boat tours, to the 4th of July fireworks. This place is definitely a must visit. Don’t forget to also grab some Garrett’s Popcorn or Giordano’s Pizza while your here too!


Quick Tip: When traveling, stay in the loop close to Michigan Ave. This will put you close to all the museums.


6. Field Museum

Possibly one of the largest museums you will ever step foot in to. With so many different exhibits to explore at Field Museum. Ranging from fossils, mummies, past civilizations, birds, and even 3D theatre. The Field Museum is definitely an all day activity.

One of the most popular is probably the Dinosaur exhibit. This is an impressive exhibit taking you all the way back into time during the prehistoric era. Sue, the most complete Tyrannosaurus fossil on display is definitely a jaw-dropping attraction.

The Puerto Rico Arts & Culture Museum is also located here as well.

Even if you are not a Cubs fan – visiting Wrigley Field is a must! Don’t be bummed If they happen to be on the road when you are in town. 13. Lincoln Park Conservatory

Such a quiet and beautiful place to get away from the loud and busy city. Conveniently located next to the Lincoln Park Zoo. Take a stroll through the gardens and enjoy a beautiful variety of plant life. Viewing the. horticulture area with different rooms ranging from orchids, ferns, and palms. With these climate controlled rooms – it can be a great place to escape the cold. 


14. Willis Tower – SkyDeck

Probably one of the top on your list of things to do in Chicago. One of the most iconic buildings in the magnificent skyline. Take in one of the best views in the city – of the city. The biggest draw to Willis Tower is the SkyDeck. Glass enclosures that protrude from the building to give a great Birdseye view of the city. Great for pictures too!! However, expect and plan for long lines. If you can, try to visit when they first open during the week for a smaller crowd.


15. John Handcock Building (360 Chicago)

Get great views of the city without the long lines at the Willis Tower. Climb to the 94th floor and experience the 360 Observatory Deck. A 45 degree tilted view which will make you feel like your falling off the edge of the building from 1,000 feet up.

A great place to visit to see all the different kinds of marine life. The layout of the Shedd Aquarium is spectacular. Almost like a star with a large, 360 view of a coral reef on display when you enter. A mesmerizing display to see all the different types of sea creatures circling the reef. One of the favorites for visitors is the Polar Play Zone. Watch beluga whales, dolphins, and penguins. There also many different shows to attend. Including a 4D movie where the seats vibrate and even a slight mist of water that might cool you off. Visit the stingray bay to get a close experience with these neat aqua life. The line to get in can be a little long so consider purchasing tickets online to cut down on the wait. 


17. Garfield Park Conservatory

One of the largest Botanical Conservatories in the US. This is such great place to visit – especially during the cold winter months. Best of all it is FREE! However, donations are welcome to help support this beautiful Conservatory. There are about seven or eight different rooms throughout with different plant life. Even a few waterfalls and sculptures. Some of the most popular areas is the ferns and cacti. 


Quick Tip: Some of the attractions in Chicago allow for FREE or discounted admission for residents in Illinois. Be sure to ask to recieve the discount.


18. Baha’i House of Worship

Built in 1953 this is truly a hidden gem in the Windy City. There are only 10 Baha’i temples in the world and this is the only one in the U.S. An incredible place for unity and peace no matter your religion. When entering the sanctuary at the Baha’i House of Worship you will be truly amazed by the intricate detail both inside and out. Take a stroll around the beautiful and well-maintained garden around the temple.


19. Milton Lee Olive Park

Another jewel and must-see for visitors or anyone living in Chicago. Located near Navy Pier, on the Lakefront of Chicago. This small park has amazing views of the city skyline. Best of all, this park tends to be less crowded than other attractions in Downtown Chicago. 


20. International Museum of Surgical Science

A beautiful 4-story mansion located off if Lakeshore Ave that has been converted into a museum. If you are interested in experience and learn more about science and medicine, the International Museum of Surgical Science is a must visit. From old artifacts and sculptures to old medical practices and crazy side effects caused by poorly researched medicine. This museum will take you on an interesting journey through the history and evolution of surgical science and medicine.
